Plastic Accelerator Pedal Firewall Bushings

This is an Josh's Muscle Car Parts reproduction of the bushings needed to install the accelerator rod support correctly. These bushings will eliminate excessive play in the gas pedal pad while promoting smoother, more even accelerator operation.

Sold as a pair.

Plastic accelerator pedal firewall bushings are small plastic components used in some vehicles to help mount and secure the accelerator pedal mechanism to the firewall of the vehicle. The firewall is the barrier between the engine compartment and the interior cabin.

These bushings serve a few purposes:

  1. Mounting: They provide a stable mounting point for the accelerator pedal assembly. The accelerator pedal is attached to the bushings, which are then mounted to the firewall.

  2. Isolation: They help isolate vibrations and engine noise from the accelerator pedal assembly, ensuring a smoother driving experience for the vehicle occupants.

  3. Protection: They help protect the firewall from damage that could occur due to the movement and pressure exerted by the accelerator pedal assembly.

Plastic bushings are often preferred for this application because they are lightweight, resistant to corrosion, and provide sufficient strength and durability for the task. Additionally, plastic bushings can be molded into precise shapes and sizes, ensuring a proper fit and function within the vehicle's assembly.

These bushings are typically designed to be durable and long-lasting, but they can wear out over time due to repeated use and exposure to heat, moisture, and other environmental factors. When they wear out, they may cause excessive play or looseness in the accelerator pedal assembly, which can affect vehicle performance and driver comfort.

Replacing worn or damaged plastic accelerator pedal firewall bushings is important to maintain the proper function and safety of the vehicle's accelerator pedal assembly. It's recommended to use high-quality replacement bushings that are designed specifically for the make and model of the vehicle to ensure compatibility and reliable performance.

The 1960s muscle car era was a time of great innovation and growth in the automotive industry. It was a period of intense competition between car manufacturers, as they sought to outdo one another with increasingly powerful and sophisticated vehicles.

During this time, muscle cars became increasingly popular, particularly among younger car enthusiasts. These cars were known for their large, powerful engines, aggressive styling, and high-performance capabilities. Some of the most iconic muscle cars of the era include the Chevrolet Chevelle SS, the Ford Mustang, and the Plymouth Road Runner.

The muscle car era was marked by a number of technological innovations that helped to push the limits of automotive performance. One of the most significant of these was the development of the V8 engine, which allowed for increased horsepower and torque. Other innovations included the use of lighter materials in car construction, the adoption of fuel injection systems, and the use of advanced transmission technologies.

The muscle car era was also marked by a strong sense of cultural significance. These cars were symbols of American muscle and power, and they were often featured in popular culture, such as movies and music. The muscle car era came to an end in the 1970s, as rising fuel prices and stricter emissions regulations led to a shift towards more fuel-efficient vehicles.

Despite the end of the muscle car era, these vehicles continue to hold a special place in the hearts of car enthusiasts around the world. They are celebrated as symbols of a bygone era of automotive innovation and power, and their legacy lives on in the modern high-performance vehicles of today.
