1965-68 Chevrolet Big Block Power Steering Adjust Bracket

Reproduction big block power steering adjustor bracket. Manufactured in stamped steel by Josh's Muscle Car Parts, this bracket was original equipment for a variety of Chevrolet and General Motors vehicles and replaces GM part number 3876788.

The power steering pump mounts to the bracket and the bracket mounts to the block. The pump is allowed to rotate slightly with the adjustor bolt within the track and this bracket allows it to slide up or down to ensure proper tension on the V-belt.

Officially Licensed GM Restoration Part

The 1965-1968 Chevrolet Big Block Power Steering Adjust Bracket refers to a component used in vehicles equipped with power steering systems and big block V8 engines manufactured by Chevrolet during the specified years.

Power steering adjust brackets are part of the power steering pump assembly and are responsible for securing and adjusting the position of the power steering pump within the engine compartment. These brackets allow for proper alignment and tensioning of the power steering pump belt, ensuring efficient operation of the power steering system.

In vehicles equipped with big block V8 engines, such as the Chevrolet 396 and 427 cubic inch engines, the power steering adjust bracket would have been specifically designed to accommodate the larger size and configuration of these engines. The bracket would have been engineered to fit onto the engine block or cylinder head in a specific location, providing a mounting point for the power steering pump and facilitating proper belt alignment.

During the mid-1960s to late 1960s, Chevrolet produced a range of vehicles featuring big block V8 engines, including popular models like the Chevrolet Impala, Chevelle, Camaro, Corvette, and various trucks. Many of these vehicles were offered with power steering as an option, making components like the power steering adjust bracket essential for ensuring the smooth and responsive operation of the power steering system.

For enthusiasts restoring or maintaining classic Chevrolet vehicles from this era, obtaining authentic or reproduction power steering adjust brackets is crucial for maintaining the originality and functionality of the power steering system. These brackets can often be found through specialty automotive parts suppliers, like us.

The 1960s muscle car era was a time of great innovation and growth in the automotive industry. It was a period of intense competition between car manufacturers, as they sought to outdo one another with increasingly powerful and sophisticated vehicles.

During this time, muscle cars became increasingly popular, particularly among younger car enthusiasts. These cars were known for their large, powerful engines, aggressive styling, and high-performance capabilities. Some of the most iconic muscle cars of the era include the Chevrolet Chevelle SS, the Ford Mustang, and the Plymouth Road Runner.

The muscle car era was marked by a number of technological innovations that helped to push the limits of automotive performance. One of the most significant of these was the development of the V8 engine, which allowed for increased horsepower and torque. Other innovations included the use of lighter materials in car construction, the adoption of fuel injection systems, and the use of advanced transmission technologies.

The muscle car era was also marked by a strong sense of cultural significance. These cars were symbols of American muscle and power, and they were often featured in popular culture, such as movies and music. The muscle car era came to an end in the 1970s, as rising fuel prices and stricter emissions regulations led to a shift towards more fuel-efficient vehicles.

Despite the end of the muscle car era, these vehicles continue to hold a special place in the hearts of car enthusiasts around the world. They are celebrated as symbols of a bygone era of automotive innovation and power, and their legacy lives on in the modern high-performance vehicles of today.
